When You Feel Alone in Parenting—We’re Here

Parenthood is beautiful—but let’s be honest, it can also feel incredibly lonely. Especially when you’re in a new country, away from your family, holding your first baby in your arms and wondering if you’re doing everything right.

I still remember a moment that moved me deeply. While working with children, a mother came to me with worry in her eyes. Her baby had a cough, fever, and diarrhea—and she looked exhausted, scared, and unsure. She said, “We’re from Italy… my husband and I just moved here. Our families are far away. We don’t know anyone. We don’t know what to do. Can you please help us?”

She wasn’t just looking for advice. She was looking for someone who cared. Someone who would listen, understand, and say, “You’re not alone.”

And that wasn’t the only time. So many parents have come to us—confused about biting, worried about language delays, unsure how to handle big emotions in tiny bodies. Every story reminded us how isolating parenting can feel, and how powerful just one kind, informed response can be.

That’s why we created familycare@elekidz.ca—a space built out of love, empathy, and understanding. It’s not just an inbox. It’s a lifeline for those moments when you’re too tired to Google, too stressed to decide, and too alone to carry it all yourself.
